So this morning I graduated!!!! The most beautiful day - the most beautiful feeling. So so chuffed. Itโs the second time Iโve completed the programme having given up 18 month ago due to health issue. Had begun to think my running days were over and I am so grateful to C25K for getting me there again, as I knew in my heart it would ๐
So now for a period of consolidation and enjoyment.
I actually only ran 4K in the 30 minutes. Which feels pretty useless. But I am trying to ignore all the competitive stuff which will only get in the way. I did feel I could up my speed but every time I do I get the stitch so deliberately kept it steady because I wanted to complete!
I know we still donโt really know what causes the stitch and just hope that as my fitness improves, the stitch will kick in later and later - if at all.
Does anyone else find this correlation between pushing speed and getting stitch?
And any advice as to how fast to build on speed and distance?

Hi, I graduated last week and am doing 4K in 30 mins at the moment, Iโm happy with that and am sure in time and with more runs under my belt I will increase it, Iโm just happy I can run for 30 mins never thought I would be able to !๐Maybe you need to take on more water before you set off?
Stitch can be associated with poor hydration. This post may help healthunlocked.com/couchto5... you realise the crucial nature of adequate hydration for runners.
Congratulations on completing run 3 of week 9 and graduating from C25K ๐ ๐๐พ ๐

Congratulations!! Ahh! Iโm about to week 9, run 1 and I get exactly the same problem. Iโm not too breathless or tired but I am plagued by stitches when I try and speed up, and they only go away when I slow down. Itโs frustrating because I feel like I have the stamina for more. Perhaps we should try hydrating more as already recommended and I have been promised by friends that stitches go away with fitness. 4K in 30 mins is amazing though, donโt feel down about that!! The more you run for 30 mins, eventually youโll get to that 5k. Sometimes I go so slow Iโm basically almost walking ahaha but you have to do whatโs best for you to get through it โค๏ธ
