Been feeling a bit despondent after my Week 7, Run 2. I think just a lot of things had come together and mentally and physically I was very tired. Turned out I had plantar fasciitus which had been caused by a combo of running and wearing backless slippers during lockdown (who knew!).
Have now sorted this by rolling a can under my foot twice a day (yes, really!), and wearing proper shoes with an insole around the flat. The NHS has some good advice and exercises for those also with a painful foot arch nhs.uk/conditions/plantar-f...
I slowed down for a couple of runs while I was recovering. But finished week 8 yesterday at the speed that I had been running at previously (a modest 7min/km, nothing too extreme) and now looking forward to graduating next week. Very proud of how far I have come. Thanks so much to everyone here for the inspiration, advice and support over the past few weeks.
Oh also to get myself back in the positive mindset I read 'Running Like a Girl' by Alexandra Heminsley, which I would recommend to those starting out and wanting to get excited about a future as a runner.
