I am short, fat (18 stone) and 50 but I've just completed week 1. I am a true couch potatoes! Run (shuffle) 1 was not too, run 2 better but run 3 was hell. Advice please, do I go onto week 2 or repeat week 1?? I have done 4 shuffles now and I do not want to reset the app but I want to be realistic. Thank you x

Hi Pselou! Congratulations on finishing week 1! It feels like a real achievement, right?! I am just about to start week 4 (I can’t believe I’ve made it this far) and I’m finding that my music playlist is a huge help in keeping moving forward. Also pace yourself, it’s ok to go slow in your running pace. Are you outdoors or on a treadmill?

Thank you for your support. I'm outside in my village field. The field has a good path so I just go up and down it 😁 My calves were tight today so I think I will try some electrolytes in my water next.

Yes, I have put together some music but some are not upbeat enough.

Any other advice? X

Hey Pselou, congrats completing wk 1! 👏🙆‍♀️ I'm same age as you and just started week 5 this morning (can't believe I've got this far and actually enjoying it: week one was such a killer!!). My advice is to go slooow and you'll be fine. Good luck! You've got this!

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

We recommend that if you complete a run, then you move onto the next one.......that's how it works.

Check out the post on hydration linked too in the guide.

Enjoy your journey.

I think you can just do run 3 again rather than the whole week? That might be best, as W2 is a step up. I do agree with the others that music helps. Persevere and you will get there!
