Injured in week 1 😫

Feeling deflated.

Have just finished day 3 of week 1 and seemed to have injured my knee.

I was thinking to just restart the whole thing once I have recovered as I am only at the beginning. Is that the correct thing to do?

Really disappointed with myself, I have been warming up and warming down so I am honestly fed up this has happened so early on.

G’Day,

The key thing here is that you’re already looking to stay on track after injury. A lot of people quit if they get hurt. Kudos to you for your approach.

At the start of the program they tell you it’s your pace not theirs so if you need to start again, start again. I tore a calf which took 4 months to heal only to tear the other calf straight after the first one healed and this morning I ran 5k non-stop for the first time ever since before I was born.

Hang in there 😉

Hey! You did it! That is brilliant. Well done you.

You really have been through the mill, tearing both calf muscles. I've been reading up on the probabilities of why I've injured my knee and as you said, it's going to have been my pace. I can barely walk on said knee this morning so will continue with the ice packs and ibuprofen.

Thank you for helping and your kind reply.

Keep safe X

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on pacing, dealing with injury, minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Rest up, recover fully and have another go.

I feel your pain Kcg73, I completed week 2 on Friday and my knee has been hurting since then. Like you I am thinking I’m going to have to re-do the last week if it doesn’t heal soon ☹️ No advice here sorry but lots of sympathy! X
