Overweight runner

Hi everyone! I am overweight and I haven’t been exercising due to the working hours. Now that we are in lockdown, I have the time to run! I loved running last year but my ankles really hurt. Should I be running? I’m desperate to lose the weight!

Thanks xx

Why not... :)

Lots of folk here carrying a tad extra luggage, and whilst this is not a weight loss programme it may most certainly help.

Do check out this first...

Take it steady and take it slow and keep posting your progress for terrific support...:)

Well done you!

Just enjoy yourself... taking it slowly helps us to get wherever we want to be..also, take a look at the Weight Loss NHS forum, one of our sister sites? Many of our runners on here are on there also, and find it really useful:)

Sounds like a good decision to me. It's not a race, just take it really slowly. Check out Japanese slow running on YouTube, it may help.

Good luck 👍

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting restarted.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Good running shoes will also make a considerable difference

Enjoy your journey.
