Does it really get easier?

I've done WK2R1 this morning and found the extra running challenging...I did it and plan to persevere but can't see myself running for a solid 30 mins EVER!!

Most of us couldn't imagine 15min. The mind gremlins told me I was too old, overweight, and out of shape.

Have faith in your determination. The plan works but that doesn't mean you won't struggle. We're here to help.

I promise you I was like that 10 weeks ago. My legs felt like lead and my feet were stuck to the ground and yet here I am 9 weeks later having graduated today! Keep at it and the programme takes you there. Good luck and keep running.

Not necessarily easier, but definitely achievable. Have faith in the programme and it will gently lead you step by step to the 30 minute runs :)

It remains tough, but the plan conditions you gradually to be able to carry on to the end..

As the saying goes, there's no gain without pain!

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Follow the plan and you will be running for thirty minutes.............and by then W2R1 will seem really easy.

Enjoy your journey.

Thank you for replying and for the link which I have just skim read and added to my home screen for on going reference

Cheers x

You will do it. If you follow the plan, stretch and hydrate and go steadily, you will do it. I was a total novice in November and now can run Half Marathon distance. I followed the plan and never gave up, kept consistency and ran 3x a week every week never missing a run. It's not magic but does require effort and resilience. It's there for you if you want it to be.

It does get easier I promise. Just follow the plan step by step and you will get there. I couldn’t run for 60 seconds when I started. I found it helps not to look at the next run and just follow the instructions if you can.

Honestly it gets better I won’t say easier but certainly better. I can remember Wk2 thinking no never going to manage this but today I’ve done Wk9R2 so it’s definitely achievable. Well done on completing your first week keep going. You can do this
