I keep being told that ‘they’ (W.H.O) are going to ban us going out altogether. I’m starting to get worried about this now as I have only just got the motivation to start the C25K. Finished week one today and someone said to me ‘ make the most of it whilst you’re still allowed out the house’ which wasn’t exactly great to hear. Should I be worried? Surely they can’t do that? For the sake of people’s physical and mental health let alone vitamin D from the light/sun.

Hi Rachel just keep going with c25k. I’m only assuming you’re in the Uk if you are you are still allowed out once a day for exercise if the government do put more restrictions in place there’s no point worrying about it at the minute if everyone followed the guidelines set out by the government we should be fine going out once a day. The government will only ban daily outdoor exercise as a last resort. Good luck with c25k.

That's the thing you can't go round worrying about things like that!

I suppose it is possible, if it comes to it.. but hasn't happened yet, so try not to worry about it too much and keep up the good work, I'm on week 6 and also find it a bit disheartening, with a minority messing things up for others, but the government know how vital excercise is for our health & fitness, so it would be a last resort, as for getting enough VitD a VitD supplement can be taken, which I do mainly in the Winter months.

My friend a retired Police officer who now lives in South West France says the policing on the lockdown there is very strict. You have to carry a piece of paper indicating which of the exemptions you have left your house for including the date and time. If you are deemed to be outside of those exemptions, forget your piece of paper or miss something off it, you are fined and if you do it again the fine increases. There is now an app you can download which saves having to print the damned things out all the time. It’s what is needed so it's tolerated.

People just don’t seem to get it. When people start to obey the laws they want to obey therein lies anarchy. What if someone decided they don’t like the rules on rape or robbery? We don’t get to choose and how many times do they need to be told? I guess some people just won’t learn until it effects them personally. All you can do is look after yourself and leave the negative people to fall foul of the law or be weeded out by the virus itself.

Stay safe.😊

Try not to worry about it, keep going until we’re told otherwise and even then I’ll be running around the house and garden lol

As others have said, let's enjoy getting out there while we can!🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏻

The government will only stop us going out to exercise if people continue to abuse the instructions and guidelines they have given. And yes, they do have the legal powers to do this but having listened to Matt Hancock speak yesterday, they clearly would rather people just adhered to the social distancing instructions properly.🤷‍♀️

It would be a shame to lose our access to physical exercise and all it's benefits for our mental wellbeing too - but we are living through exceptional times and we ultimately need to stop this virus and try to save lives. If we do end up with a stricter lockdown, there are lots of alternative ways of exercising in your own home which will help keep you fit until we can get back to our running again.

In the meantime, good luck with your running and stay safe!🙂

Well... the WHO cannot... but the government can. So far they are saying that they don’t intend to take this step... and I believe it would be a restriction of last resort.

We will get through the virus... and if needs be we will all have to step back a little with the running. What I would say though, is there’s no better time for people to start... the stronger and fitter people are the better.

Stay safe out there, each run is making you fitter.

I think the UK government recognise the benefit of exercise on physical and mental health, and won’t lockdown further unless it becomes obvious social distancing cannot be maintained. I think how we all behave over the Easter weekend is key, the more of us who stay away from obvious busy spots the better. Other than that, I would recommend staying well away from any online community where there is a large volume of people sniping at runners, cyclists and the like. It’s just an echo chamber, best not to listen to it.
