Lockdown has been hard from a running point of view, I have discovered that I am a creature of habit and don’t like it when my routine has changed 😄

The upshot of this is that I have not run as much as I intended to and felt bad about it. I have been walking and doing my hike though and yesterday I did a flat run to see how my stamina training was doing. The bad part is I found a 30 minute run quite hard, the good part is that I set my best pace / distance ever with over 4 km covered in 30 minutes so the stamina training has paid off a bit but I need to keep to a routine of running.

I’m going to go hard this week and do a 30 minute run every second day with my stamina boosting hike on alternate days and see how I feel a week from now.

I’ve also lost 16 lbs since starting couch to 5k which is great but it has slowed down a lot lately because I have been a bit complacent so I need to get that back on track.

Anyway, I feel motivated again and ready to really get back to business this week.

Happy running everyone

Tim

This is a difficult time but I guess we need to establish new habits and routines to include what excersise we can. We need to dust ourselves down and get back to it. You are doing really well...don't beat yourself up. 😎👍

Like you I have been walking more than running due to my ankle problem and the fact that my daughter and her dog are in lockdown with us. I'm due to do my 55 minute run of Magic week 6 but have decided to put it off from today to tomorrow for several reasons. The lockdown has brought a different routine to my days but hey! it's not insurmountable! You've gone off piste slightly but you'll soon be back to where you were PLUS a whole 16Ibs lighter! Well done!

I think I had a bit of a reset yesterday with a decent improvement in pace and today I knocked another 59 seconds off my benchmark hilly hike. Seeing the weight come off is my real motivation it was the reason I started on this journey. I’ve gone from a 40 waist to a 38 and now my 38 clothes are getting loose. I have a wardrobe full of 36 inch clothes but I’m beginning to think it’s possible I can go even further. It’s good to feel motivated again 😊

Motivation is the key! 😉

Brilliant Tim! Your body can now take you through many different pathways. From hiking to flat surfaces to short and faster and long and slower distances. Your best pace and distance is a signpost that everything is all still there so no need to feel too frustrated. Keep enjoying being able to get out there and achieve things my friend. We're all behind you. Great your enthusiasm is back. You can't beat a Rigpig post!

Hi Rig - good to catch up!16lbs is still good! I lost 12lbs by the time I graduated (but had hoped for better!) but now I'm running again (back up to 30 minutes this week) I hope to see some more movement. I haven't weighed in since january so am looking forward to my new scales arriving soon!

Been off the booze since lockdown so hope there might be some gains there however still looking for that silver bullet...shout if you find it!

Been a bit naughty with the eating over lockdown but still doing plenty of exercise. I've stopped getting weighed weekly and moved it to monthly. I'm about half way to my first goal of 105KG's which I set for December of this year. It's getting harder but it is still coming off and my leg muscles are a lot more toned than they used to be so this probably accounts for some weight gained rather than overall loss.

I have to keep going with my monthly targets as I promised everyone at work I would take them and their partners out for dinner and drinks if I didn't make it. There is no way that's happening so it keeps me on track :-)

Sounds like its all going in the right direction! I'm trying to cautiously build up my running so only increasing by a bout 10% a week and not forgetting rest days although these are annoying! I'll crack on then...
