Newbie with baby!

Hi all! I'm new to this just did my first run and cant believe how unfit I am. We had family pictures done last week as I have a 11 week old baby and cant believe how fat I am. My partner is in good shape and has told me that he didnt want to say anything but my eating habits have become quite bad. Our baby was in special care for 10 weeks due to prematurity and I think I just ate. Really hoping I can keep up with this as today was tough but was a great feeling to finish it. Please tell me it gets easier! Picture of my beautiful boys who are definitely worth the extra timber.

It gets easier (sort of - the programme is great and over time it trains you to run further). I hadn't run in 40 years. It took me 4 attempts to even complete run one. I'm now on Week 8 running for 28 minutes (and a stone lighter - combined with diet changes).

You will soon get used to it!

Best of luck!

Well done for getting out there, best advice run slow then run slower still, follow the programme believe in the programme drink plenty of fluids, make sure you have rest days in between the days of running and you will do this. Good luck and keep posting.

Gorgeous picture. 🥰

Just take it very slowly. Check out Japanese slow running on YouTube. It has started a lot of people's running careers.

Don't think strictly in weeks, think in levels. If you have to repeat a run or a level, it really isn't a problem.

You've made a great decision. Good luck. 👍

And I thought pictures of my puppies were cute! That’s a great picture.

It gets easier! 🤣

You’re doing great and the stresses of special care, while so worth it, are going to make anyone find a comfort. That’s done, can’t be changed... but you’re here ready to reverse all that and that’s all it takes.

Does it get easier? That first run nearly killed me... several times. Now, 18 months later, I’ve completed a half marathon and can go out for what I once thought was an oxymoron... an easy 5k. The more running you have behind you the easier it is... what’s now tough will one day be your warmup. Running is like everything else, practice makes it easier. The guide linked above will help a lot... keep the pace down and it gets easier sooner. All you need to do is keep crossing the start lines on run days, and then you will succeed.

You can do this... and you’ll be setting a great example to those two boys. There was research recently that found that children with an active mother are much more likely to be active kids... the father being active made little difference. There’s a bit more incentive for you. Enjoy your journey, and come back and tell us how it’s going often.
