Recovering from CV

Hi, I'm pretty sure I had the corona virus after a trip to Moscow in November. Before then I was running 5K fairly comfortably at over 9k/hr but since then I've been really sluggish. Having just put 2 and 2 together and realised that I've had it- I looked to see what recovery is like for other people. In China they are saying 20-30% reduction in lung capacity (which explains a lot!) but I think the advice is to keep running after recovery to help the lungs recover. I am so relieved and am just going with what my body can handle rather than trying to get ever beet times and distances.

At some stage they're going to have to start giving advice about recovery from CV, does anyone know anything about it? Anyone else recovering?

Glad to hear you're on the mend and getting back into running!

At the moment I'm afraid I don't have much to share, but thank you very much for posting about this!! I am sure we will be returning to this topic a lot xxx

From what I can glean from the internet, it is highly unlikely that the virus that you had was Covid 19, since there was only one reported case in November and it was over a month before the outbreak in Wuhan, according to this article livescience.com/first-case-...

On that basis, it would be unwise to believe that you have any immunity to the virus, so should keep following the advice about social distancing.........possibly even more so, since if you believe you have reduced lung function as a consequence of whatever virus you had, then you are in an at risk group.

Keep social interaction to a minimum and drink plenty of fluids. Build your exercise back up again at a nice steady pace and forget about attempting pbs until you are fully recovered.

Take care.

a) who knows scientists don't seem to agree about much and yes they are not sure that you can't catch it again so I am taking the normal precautions b) I'm just saying that recovery will be a problem and will affect overall fitness for months afterwards (this has been documented from Wuhan survivors).

I had a mystery virus last year to but I don't think it was this virus that's doing the rounds now.

It's nice that you are on the go again.

Take care.
