Running with muscle soreness

I started a new strength training routine and I have muscle soreness in my thighs from it. Should I try running inspite of it? Right now even walking is stunted ๐Ÿ˜€

Related question, how to manage strength training and running together? Because the next day I have soreness and Iโ€™m not sure Iโ€™ll be able to run.

Thanks for any help in understanding how you all are doing it.

Go a bit slower with everything, if you are really sore then you need to take extra rest days

Thank you.. Iโ€™m going to try slow this evening. Week 4 and hence a big jump in the program too. Fingers crossed.

Keeping moving is the best way to deal with general muscle soreness..........stop and it will settle in.

Maybe you could adapt your strength regime to be less demanding on the legs at the early stages.

As with starting to run, that initial muscle soreness will subside as your body becomes accustomed to the demands.

Thanks. Yeah, I wanna do both and today I did upper body. So bit of rest to the lower body as you suggested. Iโ€™ll run today evening and see how it goes.

I used to be into body building/ strength training for years, I also ran for cardio exercise. My tip is to do them both on the same days so that you can have a day or two of recovery in between sessions.

Thanks and that makes total sense. Somehow I was telling myself I should do only either one each day, I run in the evenings and so, can do the strength training in the morning. Iโ€™m going to follow this and see..

The recovery days are extremely important, also make sure you do your stretches before and after, drink lots of water also.

I hope it works for you..

Take care.
