Hi everyone, so today weather was horrendous and I didn’t want to stop my progress, so I hit the treadmill as a substitute. It really seemed much easier than expected ? Do you think it’s a waste of a run and not count it or keep going when I hit the road next time with the next run?
Treadmill : Hi everyone, so today weather was... - Couch to 5K
Treadmill
Noooooooo not at all a runs a run
A run is a run! However, if you do end up running on the treadmill in the future, many people on the forum recommend placing the incline at a minimum of 1 to better mimic road running. That might help so it doesn’t feel so easy!
The guide to the plan recommends putting a treadmill on a gradient, which will make it slightly easier healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
If you do all your training outdoors then you will probably be more capable at graduation than if you do it all indoors, but you will be a runner either way.
You are running - so it counts!
The only thing is that you don't have the fun of dodging puddles, excited dogs and breathing in midges
A run is a run. 😊
Like you I’ve only used treadmill once when the weather stopped me from running outside, set it to 1.5 incline, found it easier than running my usual route. Did warm up and warm down walks but when I got off I felt as though I was moving not a pleasant sensation.
Next time I think I’ll run in the rain!
It's still running and I've been doing a lot of training on the treadmill since Christmas due to time constraints, family and weather etc. I've read in article to set the incline to 1% as a minimum to account for wind resistance when outside.
Granted it isn't the same as being outside and long runs can be a chore.
I did the whole of C25K on a treadmill (like many here) and I continue to combine it with outdoor running - treadmills can be very useful.
I'd ignore the chat about setting the treadmill to any inclines. It's only really relevant for quite fast runners.
Thanks so much, all the advise really does help... generally don’t feel like I wasted a day which is great
