Hi ,.I'm John. I have never done more than walk round a big field hitting a little white ball. . At 53 and overweight I figured I needed a more exercise. I'm now using the c25k app. On week 3. I did my first park run last Saturday. I have set my self a goal and entered the Great Manchester 10k run in May . Lots of inspirational people on here ...Just what I need .

You’re right, these forums are phenomenal and the advice is invaluable. Keep posting about your progress! 😀

Great that you did your first parkrun. Beware, it’s highly addictive!! 🏃‍♀️🏃🏃‍♀️🏃🏃‍♀️

Thank you . I will keep updating. I'm working away this week so will find it difficult to run bit will walk to office instead of using my car.

Well done John, I’m 54, so I know exactly how you feel, it’s not easy when you start out, but I’m on week 7 now and I’ve surprised myself, with how much fitter I feel. Stick with it you’ll get there 👍

Welcome and congratulations on completing your first park run! What a great start. I have recently graduated but not yet plucked up the courage to attempt a park run 🤪

I felt like tha too. Its a lot different that you imagine. Eveyone is friendly. There is no pressure on you to run. Take it at your pace and enjoy the event . Even if you don't want to enter the run itself ...you can just go around the trail and leave when you want. I'm sure you'll enjoy it when your there. ..maybe take a friend along with you.
