Newbie here ...W1R1

New to the community but not new to running. So why am I here?

4 weeks ago tomorrow I suffered a heart attack. I’d had what I now recognise as symptoms of the build up to this but it then down colds or just getting old.

Anyway, I was lucky and survived relatively unscathed but need to build up my running again but slowly & carefully. Hence here I am.

So today I got out and did W1R1 ... was a trip into the unknown but completed it safe & sound. Bring on W1R2.

Welcome to the C25K club!

I am so sorry to hear about your heart attack - must have been terrifying for you (and your loved ones). Well done on taking the first step to running by using the C25K programme though - I'm sure it will help with your recovery.

I started it just after Xmas and have found it to be brilliant. I'm someone that has done no exercise for many decades and by sticking with the programme have managed each run so far.It is really amazing to have Michael Johnson as my coach! I have found my general mood and sense of wellbeing has masively improved and I'm certain you will too! The people on here are really lovely and you'll get loads of support and encouragement.

Good luck with your running adventures! :-) ........and do let us know how you are getting on :-)

Well done on completing your first run and welcome to the C25k forum.

I'm sorry to hear about your heart attack and hope that C25k aids in your recovery. Take it nice and slow.

The forum is a brilliant place for support, advice and encouragement. I'm sure one of the wonderful administrators will be along soon to post you the link to the guide to C25k.

Good luck with the rest of your runs and do keep posting your progress as it's a great way to keep motivated, plus the banter is great.

Excellent choice, if your cardiac rehab team have signed off on it this is a brilliant way to start getting fitter.

Take it slowly and see the transformation 🤩
