Having done the first 8 weeks on my treadmill (which has been gathered dust for the last 10 years😂) I plucked up courage yesterday to finally run outside (in the dark!) I was surprised how much quicker the time went and how much I actually enjoyed it. However, the top of my legs are aching so much today and I’ve never ached before 😫 I’m supposed to be doing the next run tomorrow but I don’t think I can manage it. Is it normal to ache more running outside? I did run faster than I do on the treadmill, not intentionally just didn’t know how fast I was going until the end. Just don’t want it to put me off as I was so pleased with myself last night.

Nearly there - good news!
I did a lot of treadmill running in the first 4 weeks, and I did ache more when I moved outside. I'm not surprised though, it is a bit harder outside and your legs have to adjust. As long as it's not an injury, probably completely normal.
It's worth making sure you stretch afterwards properly.
I find doing some warm up exercises before the 5 minute warm up walk helpful.
Good luck - you'll be graduating soon!

Well done for getting out there, Harvs9. I have not done treadmill running for many years but with the recent weather I am very tempted. So definitely impressed. I can imagine with the constant changes in elevation, texture etc your legs will take some adjustment. Make sure your trainers are suitable for road running though. Take care. 👍
