Running with a cough and mild cold

Hi I'm on W9 and only managed 20mins on Monday due to cough and cold. Thinking about going this evening and starting the week again...any advise? Thanks.

If you’re affected below the neck, rest is going to be better for you than run. The runs will wait for you and you won’t lose fitness for a couple of weeks at least. Viruses take it out of us and sometimes this continues even after symptoms have gone... so nice and gently does it if you’re running... don’t worry about that clock, if you get to 30 cool, if not just celebrate being back out there again... any lingering energy loss won’t last.

I waited two weeks before I carried on with C25K and even then on the first day back, I was coughing my way round and felt so wrecked that I nearly fainted in the shower at home. Really do take a good rest.

Listen to your body and try that last run again when you're better. You could always try brisk walking your route in the meantime.

Love your username, by the way. ☺️
