My language when the dog on one of those extension leads jumped snarling at me is not for here but by the time the lady with the 5 dogs had reeled it in we were both apologising
I ran 6k on boxing day nice bright day it took 59 minutes
Today I ran 6 k in wind and rain Willow stopped after 20 minutes I carried on then at almost 4k passed him in the car and shouted you go home I’ll run home and i did but when i got near home it was just over 5k and i carried on past the end of the road up a side road and back through the park, just ran past ours and carried on to get 6k in 1hr 1min so i have run 61 minutes so i turned round and walked slowly home
Peeled off soaking wet clothes and there was a cup of tea and hot bath all ready for me
I so love that man and it’s our 7 year anniversary today

Great you both got out to run and you got another 6k, congratulations.
I totally understand about those dog leads, do some people forget there is a lock on them. My pet hate ( pardon the pun ) is people out with their dog and are texting on the phone , bloody pathetic excuse for a dog owner.
Well done you! I had a couple of dog incidents last week they had a real go at Tia my little schnoodle so much so that on the next run she sat down just before where they pounced and wouldn’t move! The owner just said to me “it’s because you are running!” Yes I uttered a few words under my breath too x
My daughter has a reactive collie that we train daily to not react so i know about dogs and give them all a wide berth because it’s not fair if a runner runs so close it scares a dog it was just the extension lead and suddenness of being leapt at and snarled at, my swearing was very loud just a reaction hence the apology after and the dog walker was very apologetic
Hi I know, I always give a wide berth too and put Tia on the lead if other dogs are on a lead, this dog was on an extending lead too and sprung from the other side of the path, I agree that most dog owners are responsible but some aren’t.
We’ve mostly managed to miss rain only once before and we ran for 15 minutes and went home so we are a bit surprised, Willow seems to be able to run 20 minutes then he’s had enough but right from the start he could run faster and i could run further
He is a keeper, we decided that if we didn’t live together and circumstances were different we would probably be best friends
I got home from work yesterday in the sunshine and said it’s going to rain all weekend shall we run now? he looked rather sad at the idea so i cooked instead, this morning he regretted that but it was only drizzle when we started, by the end it was pelting down sideways and stinging my face but i was so enjoying running
And you are definitely a runner . I don’t feel so bad about missing parkrun today now. I can cope with the wind but don’t like wind and rain. 🌬💦💧 🏃♀️🌊
Thanks, i’m a bit sad that my fitness on my garmin is going down and down it’s got me at a couple years older than i am now although started a bit younger i think i will stop checking
VO2 max cannot really be assessed by a watch so although I look every now and then for a trend I wouldn’t give it any credence. It currently tells me mine is 35 excellent but doesn’t give me a fitness age .
Whoops it’s gone up again i’m fitness age 69 now i’m not looking again, i think possibly there is a lag because when i was in hospital unable to breathe without oxygen it said i was pretty good lol
Mine currently tells me I'm 59 with a VO2Max of 36 putting me in the bottom 20% for a 49 year old bloke. I guess if I can hold it there until I actually get to 59, I'll be doing OK.
Thank you, we haven’t done much since the run, soon it will be light enough after work every day and we will pick dry days, but.....do i wash all our wet gear? or just hang it up to dry just this once because i intend to go out again tomorrow for a short run ? too big a decision to make just yet lol
Happy 7th Anniversary to both of you, really, 5 dogs, too many, two dogs surely is enough for anyone, apart from the dogs, you had a nice run to celebrate your anniversary.
I have 3 days off work so was determined to run, with the weather i only set out thinking 3k in under half an hour then home for warmth and tea but it was just one of those good runs
I know its best not to get into dog discussions but as a dog owner for years, I give a wide, wide berth any time I hear the clickety click click of those extendable leads! Glad you had a good chill when you got home and keep on running!!
I don’t like extension leads especially for large dogs. I haven’t had any bad dog experiences as yet I’ve been followed a few times of them but They just seem to want to run with me. Hope you don’t get any more bad experiences with over excited dogs.
I don’t mind the large dogs mostly the loose ones seem to have been taught some manners, i seem to get a lot of little ones jumping up at me which i don’t really mind but this one was really snarling
