I am NOT scared of Dennis!!

Hello you lovely, inspirational people...today was supposed to be rest day for me, but we have had so much flooding in Yorkshire, especially where I am in the Calder valley that I feel I have to take advantage of a gap in the weather and that is just what I did..the sun (yes, that big yellowish light in the sky!!!) has made an appearance and even though my watch said tomorrow was run day I just couldn’t resist the call of the sunshine....so, i ran upstairs 2 at a time, threw my running kit on, searched for my sleeve and headphones, said my ‘won’t be longs’ closed the door and breathed in the cold wind...pressed start on my watch and began a 5 min warm up walk...I’m doing a Garmin 10k plan and this run is week 1 run 3...and it is cold. I walk uphill for my warm up, waving at my friends Mum sat in her chair near the window...ooof, the wind is colder than cold, but I’m a Yorkshire lass and I am tough...but honestly I could’ve turned round and gone home where Daddycav was lighting the fire!! After my warm up it was a 10 minute easy run with an optional 10 minute run then a run/walk 5 min cool down so, to keep warm I ran the whole flippin thing!! There is so much water here, the pavements are literally running with water but a splash in a puddle, a run passed McDonalds, a run passed another runner, a run passed the gym (lynx wafting through the vents!!) all keep me going...I have so many goals sometimes just to keep me going!! Some runs are hard, whether it’s the weather making it hard or the mental battle going on upstairs...some runs are easy, this one was moderate...I had goals that I reached and pushed myself to the next whilst battling against that wind but I’ll tell you what, that wind was strong, but I was stronger...I had a great run, it probably took me the first 15 mins to settle in to my run but once I got going I enjoyed the whole thing... the water, the branches, the litter on the pavements tell a story of this weeks weather...I’ve got so much going on in my head at moment that this blowy and cold run was just what I needed and I have you lot to thank for this because I was reading all of your posts before I went and it was just the inspiration I needed, how could I resist your posts combined with the sunshine?! I had a great run...and I hadn’t been in 5 minutes when the weather turned and it was hailing and blowing 70mph gusts again..someone, somewhere was looking out for me!!! I hope you all have a lovely week of running, be safe and wear your lights if you’re running in the dark...If you’re on the IC, I’ll take you out with me xx

Good to hear from you Mummycav, terrible flooding, I hope you have not been directly affected by it, I am happy that you enjoyed that run and missed the worst of the weather.

I hope to go a short run today around the same place that I ran, run 3 of week 5 of C25K in May 2018, I am doing JuJu's Magic 10K,

This morning at 5 o'clock I was wakened by a heavy hail shower and a clap of thunder, Its off now but I will have to look out for further showers.

Thanks AlMorr , luckily we aren’t directly affected but it was close this time...there’s been lots of mopping up and cleaning out around town though, some of the businesses here have been completely devastated, the river Calder is high and fast flowing, hopefully now the weather will get back to normal and calm down a bit. I hope you got out for your run x

What an amazing run! Just hearing about the sun and your battle with the wind was so exciting.

I did the same on Saturday evening - despite the dark and the wind, I risked a run round Canary Wharf before the weather got even worse. Scary - but kind of fun at the same time.

Ooo, that sounds risky running near Canary Wharf in this wind?!! Some routes are just irresistible!!! Well done on your run too Katie204

I’ve seen the weather reports on the local news and Calder Valley has had it very tough indeed. Well done you for battling through it!

I hope things are OK your end, Mummycav - we have just had a hailstorm here.

I managed a quick 20-minute jog between the bursts of rain but that was it.
