W6R2 & how to stalk a heron

W6R2 ✅

Should have run this morning, then decided against it as I felt my legs were not improved enough after my achey treadmill to outdoors run of W6R1.

By 3pm I was getting twitchy, by 3.30 I was doing practice jogs along the lawn, by 3.35 I headed home to get my running gear :)

So my legs ache more now, I think tomorrow will be ‘fun’. Didn’t find it particularly difficult. I chose a flat run along the canal to help with the leg issue!

Highlights we’re getting accompanied by two basset hounds who decided ignore their dog walker and run along with me, then the other four dogs she had with her joined it too - my own running pack! They were so happy running alongside me with their ears flapping madly 😍

Also, the Heron. I’ve spent many years trying to sneak up on this guy. Today 8 mins into run2 I suddenly realised I had just passed within a foot of him! He just stood there as I ran past panting heavily, arms and legs flailing and red faced, I hadn’t even seen him as I concentrated on trying to look like a pro. Took a photo while running, and it turns out to be best photo I’ve ever taken of him 🙄.

Also, I was acknowledged by two proper runners. This outdoor things has its bonuses for sure.....despite the achey legs.

No more intervals for me now R3 beckons.......eek!

Love the idea of the Bassett hounds running with you, ears flapping! Sounds like a good run and how cool that you caught the heron on camera.

Hahaha! Such a funny post! Just read this out loud to my OH. Great photo too! Fickle guy isn’t he posing for you when you pay him no attention!

I got a little nod from a runner this morning, which I took to be a nod of respect for braving the weather.... he was probably just being friendly/polite but I’m taking it as a complement!

May your outdoor running continue, looks like you’ve got some pretty nice places to run, so much nature to see! And dogs are always a bonus! Great work, well done :)

I’m sure it was a nod of respect - especially in the weather we’ve had recently!

Dogs definitely a bonus for me. The worst bit about running is I can’t stop and pet them, so my own pack was just heaven 🤣

Great post! That made me laugh - getting nods from proper runners!! I got two of those nods at the weekend( during the stormy rain - I was drenched). Oh yes, felt epic getting those nods... 👸🏻👸🏻👸🏻.

Also, maybe you should change your name from Dr Ed to Dr Dolittle.
