Knees hurting

Week 3, run 1 this morning was a total disaster. Did my usual stretches and warmup before run but both of my knees were really painful. I only managed 90 seconds of light jog and 30 minutes of brisk walking. This is so disappointing for me as I always thought I hate running but start loving it immediately after my first ever run and I don’t want to give it up but worry about my knees. Due to chronic disease I am on strong medications for life which has caused arthritis in all of my joints but I really want to be able to run 5K by the end of the year.

Any advice anyone?

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, pacing and knee strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Pre run stretches should be dynamic, not static (links in guide).
