Slowing my pace...

Week five, run two is COMPLETE PEOPLE! For every run I’ve been looking ahead to brace myself for what was coming but somehow forgot to do so until I was already doing the warm up walk and good ole Laura tells me it’s an eight minute run today not my usual five 👀👀

I’d told my boyfriend who was also in the gym that I was going to run so jumping off that treadmill wasn’t an option... so I thought to myself, this is the toxic ten talking, let’s just try it!

Until now I’d been so reluctant to slow down my pace even though a friend told me that a small shift would make a huge difference if I was struggling . I guess I had the mentality where if I dropped my pace then I wasn’t really completing the run? Today instead of my usual 9km/hr I switched to 8.8km/hr and it honestly felt so good!

I was my usual red tomato colour by the end and I’ll be honest the thought of running twenty minutes straight next has a part of me thinking what?! How?! But I know now just to trust the process - slowing the pace isn’t a failure and my speed can come later 💪🏼

Happy running 🏃🏻‍♀️ 🏃‍♂️

Well done you! I've had a couple of weeks not running as we have all had the dreaded bug...so going back to Wk6 walk 1 today was quite a challenge! I did the same as you and as Laura advised slowed it right down...so at least I finished! Good luck with the next run :-)

Oh no - this time of year seems like such a good time to start but with all these bugs around it’s another thing to compete against! Glad you’re feeling better and well done to you too! It’s definitely a mind game isn’t it? All the best with week six 😊

Slow running builds stamina and reduces injury risk.......so why push it, if it is not necessary?

Well done! That is quite a fast pace though, so take care and keep it steady!
