Week five, run two is COMPLETE PEOPLE! For every run I’ve been looking ahead to brace myself for what was coming but somehow forgot to do so until I was already doing the warm up walk and good ole Laura tells me it’s an eight minute run today not my usual five 👀👀
I’d told my boyfriend who was also in the gym that I was going to run so jumping off that treadmill wasn’t an option... so I thought to myself, this is the toxic ten talking, let’s just try it!
Until now I’d been so reluctant to slow down my pace even though a friend told me that a small shift would make a huge difference if I was struggling . I guess I had the mentality where if I dropped my pace then I wasn’t really completing the run? Today instead of my usual 9km/hr I switched to 8.8km/hr and it honestly felt so good!
I was my usual red tomato colour by the end and I’ll be honest the thought of running twenty minutes straight next has a part of me thinking what?! How?! But I know now just to trust the process - slowing the pace isn’t a failure and my speed can come later 💪🏼
Happy running 🏃🏻♀️ 🏃♂️
