W4R1 Should have been a bad one!

Had decided Friday to start w4 Sunday, had an eye test in the morning, had a pint of beer and said thats it, i will stick with my routine and run Monday, ate some bad carbs in the afternoon, sat down and watched the Rugby, drank plenty of water and thought 'don't put it off' I was mentally ready so i did it, found it not as hard as i was expecting, but still found it the hardest session so far, no nose bleed this time either! I think that mental block on the 5 min run had me worried, but slowed it down a bit more. I think physically I am a lot, lot better than i used to be, and mentally there is a massive improvement, beginning to get to grips with the runs, smooth and less bouncy, breathing slow and steady (when I am not puffing). I feel a change in my lower body and in my lungs. can't believe tomorrow is half way through the program and next week is another big mental barrier to break through.

i have noticed on all my sessions now my legs are a bit stiff for the first couple of runs, usually I feel them warm during run 2 then they ease and away they go, lactic acid i am guessing? May need a better warm up?

Well done for starting Week 4 Up until this morning W4 R1 had been my nemesis, but today I managed it (and am still grinning!). It seems that the advice I've read on here about trusting the plan, it works was right, nit that I found any of it easy! I don't do anything stretching or warming-up wise before I start out, just relying on the 5 minute walk to do its job. I suppose that I do feel a bit stiff when I start my first run, but at my age I'm not surprised. However, what suits me may not suit you, so wait & see what other advice you get about this and good luck with your next run(s).
