Week4 realisation

Did my first week 4 run on Thursday, and a bit of realisation came to me before I set off. I'm going to need a longer route. I ended up having a slight, but long incline. That was a bit of a shock to my legs. On the plus side though the aches and pains in my knees I had most of the day on Wednesday and Thursday had gone on Friday. Coudln't believe it. Really thought this was probably going to be my last run, another failed C25K effort. But nope, up and ready for this evening (hopefully the wind will die down by then.) Contemplating finding a route that doesn't have the incline or sticking with the route have. I managed it, just, and it will increase my stamina, but I don't want to push too hard. Oh the dilemma's of being an "athlete" ;-)

Well done on your run. Yep, maybe just run that route for once a week! Having a variety of different routes helps keeps us motivated, really important as the runs get longer😱 (don't worry, you will be ready for them!) Good luck.🙂

Well done for completing W4 R1 (I'm jealous!) I don't run a route as such, but go out from my house and towards the outskirts of my village, when I get the halfway bell, I just turn around and start heading back again. I've chosen this way as even outside the village, there is still a pavement alongside the road, so it is safe to use, and as (if?) I get to go further I can just turn around at a different point, it's not a problem. Another (slight) advantage is that the altitude rises a little going through and out of the village meaning that when I turn around, most of my final running is downhill (apart from the final 200 yds) which gives me a boost mentally if not physically! Anyway, that's what I do, it may not suit you to try it that way, good luck with the rest of your runs, please let us know how you get on.

Well done! Those hills though! I run in a few different places according to my week but the one with the hills...phew! I just keep thinking though that it's extra fitness, even if I am panting by the time I get to the top!

I still prefer the run uphill than along the road with the traffic though :)
