Thank you to everyone who responded to my earlier post with help and advice for leg pains. All your suggestions were greatfully received and put to good use. I had a great run today and just feel I have run-tired legs, rather than painful ones.

I have picked up many useful tips and learned a bit about myself as a runner......

⏰ I don't have 'early morning runner's legs', they protest too much afterwards, even though the hectic mum schedule would sometimes prefer it otherwise...

My legs take a while to warm up and definitely don't like to run πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ before everyone else in the house is up πŸ›Œ.

My legs need the additional warm up of a dog 🐢 walk 🐾 before running.

Dynamic stretches work for me πŸ€Έβ€β™€οΈ.

A good physio is worth their weight in gold.πŸ…

The πŸ‡―πŸ‡΅ Japanese Slow Running technique (on YouTube) helps to reduce impact, set pace and good foot placement - slow and slower still 🐌.

That YouTube calf massage clip works wonders for tight muscles!! πŸ˜ƒ

The foam roller really is my friend, even though I like to pretend it isn't 🀬.

Extra rest days are part of the journey.... πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ.

πŸ› Epsom bath salts are AMAZING, my legs love them 😊.

I'm so glad my legs are happier! Thank you everybody who offered words of encouragement and advice. This forum is wonderful. Happy running everyone πŸ˜ŠπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ.

Hi Kevtrev. Good to hear from you! Yes, thank you for the socks tip! They've been recommended quite a bit so I'm on the look out for some.

How are you doing I’m glad you are back running and you got so far last time but you are back now so I hope all goes well for you. Also for your base of your foot use a ball roller the harder the better. I have joined a running club and I’m loving it I’m running Trafford 10K the Wilmslow running festival Half Marathon Knutsford 10K Wilmslow 10K festive run and Manchester Half Marathon and I also want to do the greater Manchester 10K and I also fancy doing some trail and fell running πŸ˜‰πŸ‘ and my park run time has gone from 36:57 to 26:21. Take care and me JaoJao and Lynsh are still in our small group just the 3 of us at the moment x

You are doing brilliantly! So much running. It sounds like you are near my home turf (though I'm now a southern softie). Look up the High Legh 10k in March. It has a great reputation. My sister runs it and is hoping that I will join her one day!

JaoJao and Lynsh keep in touch via posts. Lovely to hear from you xx

The high Legh 10k right all depends when in March as I have 2 events in March 1st and the 15th. You definitely will be joining her you got this. My wife has just started CT5K W1 R3 next on Sunday after my 10 miler πŸ˜‰πŸ‘

Yes and you too my training is mad Monday running club Tuesday gym Wednesday running club Thursday and Friday gym Saturday park run but this Sunday I’m running 10miles so no park run for me just volunteering and Monday running club but a recovery run take care delly dot x

β€’ in reply toKevtrev

High Legh 10k is March 8. Enjoy your running x

Sounding good. And... this is a great post full of good advice. Might need a quick screen shot for the next achy leg day 😊

β€’ in reply toComfortnotspeed

Thank you. You were right when you said my muscles were getting used to new levels of exercise. Guess I have to be more patient too....

Yes, we need a bit a patience. That’s been this year’s learning curve. Enjoy the program, don’t rush through. So far so good 😊

Great you've found lots of stuff that works for you.

You sound really happy. Result 😊😊

β€’ in reply toBuddy34

I am happy and I'm feeling relieved. I think I was bit panicky - I don't want any injuries to stop me this time.

Great news ! Glad your run was a good one today...who knew when we started running that there was so much to it ! πŸ€£πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

β€’ in reply toRunRunRun13

Absolutely! Here’s me thinking it was going to be straightforward...... πŸ™„πŸ˜Š.

I’m learning to be patient and that the phrase β€œOops! I hope I’ve not just jinxed myself” (which I wrote in a post a couple of runs ago) possibly has some truth in it......

Fun though when it all goes to plan!

Brilliant well done. My favourite line "Extra rest days are part of the journey.... πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ." That's such an important lesson, along with slow and steady wins the day, the slower the better. Keep up the great work

πŸ›

Thank you steviej99. I'm very much on the slow and steady route too! The Japanese Slow Running technique was so helpful to me first time round pre injury in week 9, so I'm relying on it again. Can't believe I forgot to put it on the list! I'll have to do a quick edit!
