Thatโs great news as far as Iโm concerned ๐๐
Slow and Steady gets you anywhere...and everywhere...believe me!
That's a great post/read! I've noticed how much better I run and my endurance/stamina to make it to the end of my runs when I've dropped the pace! It works!
This is great! Every run I do is slow and I'm not going to think about distance and speed but just keep at it! At the age of 60 I'm amazed I can run for 30 minutes. I mean - that's a long time!
Was going to use apps and tracking devices but may leave that for a while until I decide to get a bit more competitive with myself! For now will just consolidate but run in different places, particularly now the spring is near.
We're a hardy lot those of us who have done this during the autumn/winter!
30 minutes is a long time ๐ well done ๐
I feel like doing this through the winter is good, if you can run in the wet/cold/wind, you'll definitely be ready for summer ๐
30 minutes is a long time indeed
I use the Nike Run Club app and find the coached runs and statistics very motivating, worth a look when you are ready (oh, and it's completely free!)
I think, purely by accident, I do this ๐ my typical running by myself 5k time is 37-38 minutes... my best parkrun 5k from a couple of weeks ago is just under 31 minutes... I'll keep happily plodding along in my evening runs then ๐
Oldfloss will love this...itโs so true...slowing down means you can run for longer ๐
I do...it got me to a 26 minute 5K!!!
This approach sounds like the 80/20 approach outlined in a book called '80/20 Running: Run Stronger and Race Faster by Training Slower' which I've heard mention of.
I've not read it yet, it's on the Amazon wish-list.
I think that's one of the problems with Strava. I love Strava; I record all my runs; make notes about how I feel and the weather etc. Today I ran the furthest distance I've ever run - 8.6k. Slowly. No medals, no segments, no PBs. No rewards for running slowly.
๐ฅ here you are ๐
This is good to hear! Slow and steady all the way โบ๏ธ
Nice article except the bit where he says a 10 or 11 minute mile is little more than a shuffle! My 8.5 km run tonight was at TWELVE minute mile pace, so it seems that really is a shuffle! Mind you I haven't run more than 5k since December 10th due to back problems, so took it easy.
I'm going to try this next week. Amazing how hard it is to slow down from your normal pace.
Heading to gym to use a guest voucher tonight, so I'll be doing 5k on a treadmill for the very first time!
Starting the Magic plan next though, so I will definitely incorporate this 80/20 plan into my running.
Good find!
