Is it possible??? I had an Aortic valve replacement Dec 2018 so just a year post op. I have been walking most days 2 to 3 miles. I would love to do this couch to 5k. Pre op I was a smoker and enjoyed a few or more beers, still done my dog walk but wouldn't say I was fit.
I really want to get fitter, healthier and lose some weight. I need to lose 6 to 7 stone. I feel fitter than I did before my op but know I still need to improve more. What worries me though is somedays the walks can be a bit tough. Not sure if the medication plays it's part at times.
I'm 40 years old and have a mechanical valve. Anybody here have a similar experience and tried to do this, I would love to hear your views
Many thanks

You will need to consult your doctor for the absolute answer. If you’re medically approved then remember to run nice and slowly, which will keep the heartrate down as well as improving your fitness faster than quick running.
As others have said - you should really speak to your doctor or consultant first. If they say yes (and of course we hope they do!), remember to take it slowly and stay well hydrated all the time. Good luck!
We would always recommend someone in your position to check with the medics who know your history. Another person with the same condition might have crucial differences.
We would recommend that you can walk briskly for thirty minutes before you attempt running and there is alink in the guide to the Active 10 walking programme.
