Will I look back and laugh?

.I thought I was relatively fit - regularly walk 5 miles plus with no problems. However I have been proved wrong - it is day one of C25K and I only managed 15 minutes - heart pounding, bringing up phlegm and stopping only to hear the rooks laughing. Will day 2 be any easier?

If you go slow enough, your heart should *not* be pounding. Have a look at this which may help you:

Thank you - that is really helpful - if day 2 was a repeat of today I would stand no chance of completing the programme. Now looking forward to giving it another go.

You've done the hardest run! I am a long distance walker and I swim 50 lengths twice a week, but I still found the first few weeks hard. It's a completely different demand on your body. Make sure you take your rest days to enable your body can adapt. You obviously like being outdoors; I guarantee you will get to love running. 🤞

Good luck 👍

Welcome & slooowww right down!😄

Read the pinned post for new runners - it explains about running at a pace where you can have a conversation and not be gasping for breath. - For some of us that is as slow, or even slower, than our brisk walk but making the running movement. Good luck & enjoy! 😄

Thank you - thought I was had totally failed at this challenge - looks like I was just playing it wrong.

You are certainly not failing- quite the opposite... but you may have been sprinting! 😉

One of the brilliant things about this amazing program is that failure is simply not there - you either do a “practice run”, which is building up your strength for when you try it again, or you complete a run and move on – no failure in either of those.😄

Yes, lots of people are now going to tell you to slow down, and they’re right!

Give the How to post a read as well as there are great tips and advice which will help immensely 👍😁

Thank you - 'going like the clappers', for the run sections, I have now learnt was not a wise move.
