Will I make condition worse?

HI I am currently suffering from plantar fisciatus (prob spelt wrong!) and am not sure if running will make it worse? I don’t have a lot of pain when on my feet only once I’ve stopped walking and then get back on my feet. Just wondering if running will make it much worse?

You have been diagnosed with this before thinking of starting the plan?

Yes I’ve had it for 6 months not getting better or worse. Once I’m up on my feet and moving the pain goes only hurts first 10or so steps so wasn’t sure if running would be same or if I could more damage?

Have you by any chance changed any of your foot wear recently ?

I have known of people on this forum who have had to give up running because of plantar fascitis, so I would recommend getting treated before running any more.

Your GP or a sports physio should be able to advise with far greater confidence than the well meaning, but for the most part medically unqualified members of this forum.

There may well be people here with a similar diagnosis, but no two cases are exactly alike.

Hi Kc! There are some good exercises for PF on the NHS website, and they really will help. Sensible shoes with orthotics to support the foot as well! As it’s an inflammation, you may find running on it makes it worse, especially if your foot hits the ground heel first. If you’re managing to run you’re doing well - I suffered with PF most of last year and could barely walk some days!! I would recommend you see a doc or physio before you run any more!
