I've done 2 runs of w2 and my knees are really bad. Should I be taking a longer rest between runs ? I'm going to try again today after 5 days rest. I'm 59 !

Poor you. You will get lots of advice from the members I'm sure, but for what its worth I have mild arthritis on my knees and I found they hurt around week 3/4. Please do warm up well and perhaps do some warm up exercises before You set off. Remember to stretch afterwards. Perhaps you need to think about shoes being fitted for you. I had to have a 5 day rest period around week 3/4 but with some prep hopefully you will recover.
No substitute for expert advice if you are really suffering or if it is affecting your daily life though.
Good luck.
Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, knee strengthening exercises and much more.
Keep moving on your rest days........sitting still is the worst possible thing.
Enjoy your journey.
Oh and getting shoes fitted with a gait analysis made a massive difference!
I've been gait tested and have the correct trainers. My knees have been checked etc. I think I need a longer rest period between runs. I dont fit into the every other day schedule π€
Try looking at this clip on Japanese Slow Running. It is all about minimising impact on your joints. Hope it helps. Good luck!

Just watched that - gonna try that on my next run. Think Iβm landing on the flat of my foot. See how it goes. πββοΈ
Sorry about sore knees. Check your shoes, slow down, check out the strength and flex forum. Muscles will build to support joints. Happy running
