What you guys think?

Just finished week1..my 3rd and final day was hard. I’d been to the gym first thing..whether or not take took it out of me I don’t know. But I found it really really tough. Some parts of the last two 90secs runs I kinda fast walked/jogged. What do people think. Shall I move on to week 2 or repeat week 1

Hi 👋🏻 If you completed each of the sessions without walking then there’s no need to repeat a week. If you struggled, It sounds like you may have been completing the 90 second runs quite quickly (very easily done) so I’d be inclined to maybe just try the 3rd run again but much slower?! Only you know how you feel though so it’s up to you

Good advice, I think I will do exactly that and repeat that last run in two days time. Cheers

Well done.

Everything going on in our lives can impact on our performance as a runner. Restedness, hydration and nutrition are at the top of my list of variables that need to be optimised to enable enjoyable running.

If you completed the sessions then you are physically prepared to move on.

If any run is seeming tough, then just slow down.

That’s what I have to remember to take it at my pace. I’m not a runner naturally. My legs feel like lead. Onwards and up awards 👍

Heavy legs are symptomatic of poor hydration. A runner needs to drink 2-3 litres every day whether running or not, as advised in the guide to the plan.

That’s so interesting, I thought the complete opposite that maybe my legs were retaining water! I find it very difficult to drink fluids at the best of times. I’m always very dehydrated. Right so today will definitely be a change and I will make a conscious effort to improve that. Will let you know. Thanks for your support 👍

I also struggle to take on enough fluid.

A couple of little tweaks have helped me.

I have a 500ml water bottle in my car, I drink half going to work, and half coming back ( 500mls I wouldn't usually have had)

I bought a bloody big mug and use that for my tea!!!!

It all adds up 🤩

I’m a little ashamed to say that the only fluid I take is tea during the day. I’m a Black Cab Driver so it’s always difficult to find a loo when I’m working. But saying that if this is what it takes to be able to run better then I’m on the case!

Fluid is fluid, but I understand that the loo issue plays a part.

Try to get around 2 litres, that includes all tea, and also milk for cereal ( if you have that), as an under hydrator you will really struggle to get to 3 litres.

I manage okay on 2 to 2.5 the day before a run.

Enjoy the programme it really works 🤩

Read the advice in the guide about hydration.

it is crucial.

Morning, I just wanted to come online and thank you personally. After taking your advise about fluids, I made a conscious effort to up my intake. All I can say is WOW! What a difference. it made a huge difference to my running yesterday. I even found myself pushing a tiny bit harder, slightly out of my comfort zone and it felt amazing. Thank you so much!
