I’ve just started this week. I’ve never run before. Did my second run yesterday and my legs are like lead today. They were stiff after the first run but I decided to go for R2 after a rest day. During R2 it felt like they loosened up but now they are really stiff again. I did some stretches after each run. Is it normal to be this stiff?

W1 R2 and suffering from sore legs
Hi there, I'm in the same position as you although I just did my 1st run yesterday. Like you said my legs are a little bit sore today but looking forward to my next run tomorrow.
The only advice I can give is maybe going for a swim to ease the muscles? Or having more than one rest day. I think that is what I'm going to try. Good luck and hope the legs feel better soon 👍
Morning, I'm the same, I did Wk1 R2 yesterday and like you my legs are feeling tight (but I also did an exercise class last night). Just keep the muscles warm and do gentle stretches throughout the day I would suggest, hopefully just our legs adjusting to the new routine. Hang in there and let's do Wk1 R3 in spirit together lol
Welcome to the forum and well done on
getting started.
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
Heavy legs can be symptomatic of poor hydration.......as a runner you need to drink 2-3 litres of fluids every day, running or not.
Stretches are linked to in the guide also.
Enjoy your journey.
Thanks for the link. I’d missed that information. You’ve hit the nail on the head with hydration being the problem. After reading that info I realise I’ve had all the symptoms of low hydration - Headaches, stitch in my side, sore muscles and heavy legs. Thanks so much for the help.
Off to drink water right now 😅
