When you post your graduation here, I will send you a link to a guide to post C25k running.

If you can't wait that long you will find it in the FAQ posts, which you can find in the Pinned post column.

25k ! I guess if I've already done the 5k then it's onwards and upwards. Thank you !

Hi, good luck with reaching your graduation.

Some people want to increase their speed and distance. I'm just happy enjoying what I've achieved at the moment and getting some miles under my belt. I've been trying different routes, timings and distances. Lots of people seem to do parkruns or you could join a club. I've not done either yet.

Read all the wonderful advice you will get, follow all the links to magazine articles and YouTube videos and maybe set yourself a couple of goals. I might decide on a proper goal in the spring (and in the meantime, buy as much lycra as I possibly can 😉😂)

I have bought so much lycra! It turns into a slight obsession. Great idea I think I will try and do the 30min sessions faster and faster as a first goal. There's a park run in letchworth so thinking of doing that too ! Thank you.

Running faster doesn't always mean running faster 🤯. Long, slow runs help build stamina and interval sprinting over short distances is good. Also hills - don't get me started on hills 🥴

My aim is just to keep up with running for 30mins 3x a week over the winter, with a parkrun when I can.

Next summer I'd like to get up to running 10k, but felt like I needed to keep it realistic over the winter!

Maybe 10k should be my next goal ! I'm enjoying running in the winter at the moment as it's cool and I don't get too hot. I'm wondering how I will cope doing long runs in the summer!

At the moment I’m just really enjoying running two or three times a week, trying to improve my 5K speed. I also go to a personal trainer for a strength workout twice a week so running isn’t the only exercise I do, but maybe in the new year I might start increasing distance a bit or running four times a week. Weirdly, though, I’m actually enjoying running in cold damp weather much more than running in summer! I haven’t done a park run yet even though there’s a huge one every week in the park right opposite my house. Running with lots of other people doesn’t appeal to me that much - I like being on my own and listening to a podcast as I run!

You can always put the podcast on when you run. I found doing a group run no one wants to talk anyway as they zone in on finishing. I am enjoying the winter but not yet done a run in the summer so I'm nervous of the heat to say the least !

Sounds like a very similar experience to me 😁

Parkrun! No matter what your regime is for your running, include this great phenomenon. A great bunch of friendly people who are all there for the same reason and see you as a runner, no matter what your time!

Once fully fit again, we will do two early morning runs of 5K at out local beauty spot on a Tuesday and Thursday and on Saturday, our local Parkrun. But here is another thing you can do. Find your local Sunday Junior Parkrun and pass on your enthusiasm to the real athletes of tomorrow by volunteering to marshal for them. Not needed every week, but once in a while makes you feel real good!

Main thing though. Keep on keeping on.

Such a great idea! There is one near me I could go to. The volunteering sounds great to, even if I'm not running I'm still getting out and about in the fresh air.

What Rumour said...parkrun ! You'll get to know other people who run local to you. You'll find out which are your nearest clubs and groups and if, like me you're not particularly sociable you get to run against yourself too.

Hi abbi. I started c25k last winter. I entered my first race but due to injury didn't make it. I'm fortunate enough to live in hilly scotland. I do roughly two 10k hill runs a week when I'm well and when life doesn't take over. I use a head torch in the dark and love drum and bass for it. Don't worry about pace too much. Focus on your breathing its Real skill as is stretching afterwards.
