Having finally run 5k for the first time, I thought I was overdue a running treat. I booked a gait analysis, took my trusted running shoes along and took the video test. I've never run on a treadmill before, let alone had my gait tested, so once the treadmill was set slowly enough for me off I went. The video was very revealing, and that twinge/recurring injury is down to a wobbly ankle so I was recommended stability shoes. Having tried on several pairs to run in, I quickly realised that not all stability shoes are the same. So, with some reluctance, I had to ditch the glamorous and colourful shoes in favour of a pair of black Nike Air Zoom Structure 24. They're really comfy and my ankles don't wobble at all. Looking forward to my next run day now and, hopefully, injury free running. As an aside, having listened to the BBC podcast about barefoot running shoes, they did discuss the validity of gait analysis. Now, having done the test and can feel the difference in the shoe with my running, I believe I'm a convert.
Warning...shoe porn!: Having finally run 5k for... - Couch to 5K
Warning...shoe porn!
Phwwoooarrr - comfy looking running shoes, enjoy!
Get you! ❤️🏃🏻♀️👟❤️
Ooo gorgeous shoes, wishing you many happy miles in them
Wishing you many happy miles x
I had a gait analysis at end of week 2 and tried a number of recommended shoes - also had to pick a pair that weren't my top choice to look at but couldn't ignore the fact that they felt so good. Took another week for knee pain to vanish but haven't looked back. Mine are Hoka and frankly game-changing. I'd recommend everyone get a gait analysis asap - everything else in terms of kit can wait/be adapted/be a cheaper versio but the right shoes are worth every single penny..... Enjoy using them and congratulations on the 5K mark! (I still haven't measured the distance I've run and doubt its 5 yet so am going to keep consolidating and perhaps measure when I'm confident of running a bit longer and having half a chance of finding I've done it). Onward!
They are so smart and look very comfortable. Hope you have many happy runs in them🏃♀️🏃♀️👍👏👏👏😂
yay! Who doesn’t love a pair of new shoes…and posting pics of them on a running forum means that yes, you are a convert! It’s my birthday soon so lookout for my shoe porn picture/post! 😉
😍😍😍😍 Those are lovely!!! Enjoy!!
Steady on 🤣
Yes! Going to a proper running shop and getting advice is a must! I’d never buy running shoes online or from a large shop. The annoying thing is the designs change every year or so, and it’s not then obvious what to buy next. For example, I used to have Brooks 19 shoes. These wore out (they only last 500km) and were out of production. I tried the next model, Brooks 20, and they were too narrow! No problem, though, as I was at a running shop and got to try loads of shoes. Nice problem to have.
Hi, one quick question.....how do you go about getting a gait analysis?
I had mine done within a local independant running shop and then was able to try on lots of different recommended shoes, which was very helpful. The information and help was so useful and being an independent (and a runner) the chap was genuinely interested. You "know" when you have the right ones and guaranteed they are usually not the ones you first had your eye on because they looked snazzy! 🤣 I've just pretended I'm you and searched "gait analysis near me" on Google and my shop popped in so that may be worth a try.
Happy Running ❤️
Do an Internet search fir running shops to find one near you. If you look through their web site you're likely to find info on gait analysis and how to book one. Some shops ask you to book, some just to turn up. Some shops are no charge. The one I went to didn't charge if you bought shoes on the day, otherwise it was £20, but they then they gave you a £20 voucher for a discount valid for 3 months. Also, as I was over budget on my shoes, I asked if that was the best price they could do, and I was instantly offered 10% off - well pleased. Good luck 👍
Brilliant! Congratulations on achieving the 5K. I'm a million miles (almost literally!) behind you, being only on Week 4 of C25K...but I too decided to treat myself to some decent shoes and a bit of gait analysis. I went to Runners Need near me in Manchester - couldn't have been more friendly and helpful...turns out I jog more or less straight, so I bought these Brooks Glycerin. It's like jogging on clouds - totally wonderful!
Ooo they're nice - I've got Brooks but mine aren't as snazzy as that!!! That said, I think the lovely chap did give me some money off as mine were "last season" apparently. Happy Running ❤️
Ha ha - I'd definitely go for the money off over snazzy any day....sadly they didn't have any last year's models!
