Oh no....

Now before I say this I know there are runners who run in all weathers but I’m not one of them ...... yet. The thing is I should have trained yesterday (Tues, Thur and Sats) but the weather was foul and Im busy today. What do you think I should do? I’m hoping to purchase a waterproof jacket today and if so I’ll get out tomorrow regardless of the weather Should I do more if I can tomorrow to make up or just carry on where I left off. It was really foul weather so wasn’t just copping out. ( any advice on a jacket appreciated too but not paying a lot of money at this stage). Cheers all. 😄

I would say Stick to the Plan! Life, including really awful weather, can for sure get in the way of any schedule. 😨 But never mind, just pick up where you are at the next opportunity. Too much too soon is a way directly to Injury, so don’t go there. It’s even more discouraging than missing a run, believe me.

On the jacket: I repurposed a cycling jacket & it’s been fine. Light & breatheable is the way to go. 😊👍

The weather is a bit crazy just now , I'm just back and it's my first experience of horizontal rain , right in the face.

When you go out tomorrow just carry on to your next run , no need to do any more than is asked of you.

There is this jacket but there is only a few sizes left in it . 😊😊

I echo what Granspeed says, including the jacket. I bought a cycling jacket from Aldi a month or so ago, it's lightweight, waterproof, breathable and most importantly (for me) it has a zip, so I can lower that down & vent off the excessive amounts of heat I generate travelling at anything above walking pace!

Never thought of looking in there. I will pop in today. Thanks.

Just carry on from where you are up to, making sure you have the usual rest day(s) between runs.😄 Life gets in the way at times for all of us - a day or two doesn’t matter at all. ( To put your missed day into perspective... I am now back on W8 having had to take nine months off with a back injury – not running related I hasten to add!) - We all run as we can, not as we can’t!😉

Regarding running in all weathers, the only weather I don’t run in is something that is not safe – ice & gales! I have a very lightweight, breathable jacket which keeps me comfortable. I discovered that if my torso is dryish I don’t mind the rest of me getting wet at all – in fact I love running in the rain. 😄 I also wear an inexpensive running cap (like a baseball cap) which keeps the raindrops off my glasses.

So just now I wear a thin sports top and a thin sports zipper. When I get the jacket do I replace the zipper with that? Thinking if I kept it on I’ll be too hot. So sports top and jacket ok?

It depends on the temperature of the day. I vary what I wear underneath my jacket, so it might be a sleeveless top, or short sleeves or long sleeves, I might add a vest / cami extra layer too. I also quite often take off my jacket and tie it round my waist if I get too hot.

I too use a cycling jacket. They tend to be designed with longer sleeves and a longer back which means I don’t have to bother with gloves (hands up sleeves!) & my backside is warm! I know you said you didn’t want to spend much money, but it really is a good idea to buy breathable material otherwise you will be drenched on the inside as well as the outside! 😄

PS I haven’t looked recently, but I have had some good, reasonably priced running kit from Decathalon & sometimes Aldi.

Agree with everyone else- continue where you left off.

Regarding jackets, if I was buying it myself, Aldi or Decathlon seem to be good value. As it's on my Christmas list, Ronhill everyday jacket 😉

thanks all. Heading out now to find myself a jacket. Will run tomorrow regardless of the rain. What a fab bunch you are !!!!
