Hello! I have only just started but am nervous of winter running and it is fast approaching!

My question is...

What is your essential winter running kit? Any and all suggestions welcome!!

Buffs and thin layers! You want to dress for 10 degrees over the actual temperature however those first 10 mins can feel really cold so super light layers you can either take off and shove in a pocket.

I like thin silk gloves as my hands get really hot but can be cold to start, they squash into a tiny pocket with no issue.

A showerproof/ windproof light jacket in bright colour is useful. Most important or me is running gloves with phone friendly finger tips- my hands feel the cold. Sometimes a hat, a long sleeve top, a buff on the neck, full leggings. You might end up taking layers off as you get warmer. If running in the dark, a clip on flashing light or reflective flashes are useful.

Buffs.

That's it really. Maybe some good gloves instead of using two of your four buffs as gloves. If it's minus 10 then maybe a short sleeved t shirt on top of the long sleeved one.

If it is *really* a howling gale and you are planning a long one then maybe windproof cycling jacket.

I like the long sleeve running tops with the little thumb holes I have one from under armour and one from Nike. It means you can just take your thumb out when you get too hot rather than having to put gloves somewhere. Also I have one which has a big zip and a high neck so you can have your neck covered but unzip it when you get too hot. I always wear a hat as my ears get sore in the cold. And I have a really thin rain jacket that can go into a tiny little bag which you can wear on your arm!! Think it was from ASICS
