Two more milestones passed today (not literally!)

So, as planned I went out this morning and completed W2R3 (milestone one). Also, as I don't work weekends, I decided to treat myself to a lie-in, eventually leaving out about 2 hours later meaning it was getting quite light so someone might see me (milestone two!)

I don't know why, but although I did complete the run, today didn't go as well as usual. Maybe the lie-in meant I wasn't so well mentally prepared? It started off badly as I left home & switched on the podcast which announced that this was week three and that I should not start that until I'd completed weeks one and two. So I had to stop that, find the C25K app and start week 2 run 3 on that (I can't navigate around my podcast app without my reading glasses!) I did complete everything to the letter but found the runs harder than last time (Wednesday) even though I forced myself to run more slowly than I wanted to. I had hoped to make my final run 3 minutes as a test for next week but by the time I'd reached two minutes I was running out of steam, so stopped there. I'm not downhearted, I have fully completed week 2 now which is certainly something I couldn't envisage a few weeks ago, I just need to counter the trepidation I'm currently feeling about the 3 minute runs I have to complete next week. I think I'll just spend the next two days telling myself to slow down, and then slow down some more...

Don't worry some runs feel tougher than others. It's so great you went out and ran when it was lighter outside. You should be so proud of yourself. Well done you 😊

Oh dear no more long lies for you on run days😉 you are doing great and ran in daylight which must have been nice. Keep up the good work.

It really is hard to slow down though isnt it.

I'm still setting off at a pace that I think I should be able to do and it's just too fast. But slowing down feels unnatural.

Seriously well done for getting out there though, I can totally identify with your run.

Let's keep encouraging each other and we'll all do this.

Thanks 'Migs', yes the running slowly thing is something I really struggled with (and clearly still haven't completely grasped) when I started this. I'm just putting todays struggles down to it just being 'one of those days' and that I just wasn't as well prepared mentally as I should have been. (Maybe I was starting to become complacent wrongly & big-headedly believing I'd already 'cracked this running lark'?) As you say, the help, advice and encouragement on here is fantastic, I wouldn't have got even to this stage without it!

Well done you! My second run this week was my hardest and I was worried about the next one, but it went really well. I agree that maybe it’s psychological as I’d run really early due to being busy later in the day, and I prefer to run around lunchtime. Also I slowed right down for R3, and that’s what I’ll be doing from now on! I haven’t even dare look at W3 yet 👀
