A day of firsts

It’s been an awful year at times, I’m a runner not a fighter and there were times I just wanted to run away.... from work that I’m not always good enough....from psoriasis that has given me so much pain and distress. We haven’t run for 8 days due to Willows dodgy knee and the latest round of blisters on my feet.

Lousy nights sleep and supervision first thing this morning

Today our first run in long sleeves which we took off after 1 k our first run in the rain, our first 5k run under 50 minutes at 49.41 that’s almost 3 minutes off our first 5k and although as slow as 🐌 we are not our to win any races. Then a rumble and our first run in thunder

Interesting splashes of yellow paint dotted about the park after closer looking they are sprayed over dog poo maybe to remind people to pick up

Thank you everyone for the encouragement and sympathy

Congratulations on running a sub 50 minutes 5K at 49.41. I wonder if they have a parkrun in that park.

Thunder, I suppose with all the rain ☔ we have had recently, thunder had to be heard. Keep on running, not long now until you will be able to run a 5K in under 45 minutes. 😊 🏃🏾

Thank you Al we are chuffed because haven’t been running 5k for long in fact it’s obly our second full 5 k we were both tired and have been fair weather runners up to now

They don’t do park run in our park it’s got a nice track that’s just under half a kilometer and grass at the end to stretch the distance a bit, we toyed with going along the seafront today but there are trees all round the park so it’s sheltered

Congratulations on getting out and completing under 50min. For many that is a distant target they may never reach. Remember this feeling when you are next feeling down. I did my run along the beautiful canal past all the locks with a boat going through thinking of you both.

Thank you so much, I wasn’t sure we would run today but just wanted to, there was a bit of walking involved but we are happy to have covered the distance

Glad both of you got out for a run. Hope your blisters and willows knee behave themselves and let you continue.

It really annoys me the people who do not clean up after their dog . If they don't want to pick up the mess they shouldn't have a dog in the first place .😊😊

SueAppleRunGraduate in reply toBuddy34

Very true on the dog mess and for the first time ever i trod in some but didn’t care because there were puddles

Blister plasters blister socks and loads of moisturising everyday has made a huge difference

Willows knee a bit sore and hip too so i think new insoles and maybe even new shoes although they aren’t that old

Huge well done to both of you.. you are doing wonderfully... thunder is wonderful too for getting us moving faster too! And you have the choice of a sea side run too...I sneaked one in before driving home today..but it was sunny!

Steady as you go xx

SueAppleRunGraduate in reply toOldfloss

Wow that’s impressive we started at 63 and have run a full 5k twice with a little bit of walking in the middle, I’m keener than Willow now he might have reached his distance

The runs just evolve.... and as long as you let them and go with them... the enjoyment is still there... Willow is the name of our small runner in training !

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate in reply toOldfloss

Aww it’s a lovely name my willow is a singer songwriter and i’m nagging him to put a steady beat play list together for us to run to

Oldfloss profile image
OldflossAdministratorGraduate in reply toSueAppleRun

Just wonderful.. I play the piano...and have written a lot of songs..but mainly for the children I taught : )

It would be wonderful if he did put a list together.. we could use it as our C25K theme list!

Hi, I was wondering where you two had go to. Well done on not letting work and health issues stop you from getting back out there. Agree on age so the aim of the game is try to enjoy whilst keeping fit. Something you seem to be doing well - keep it going.

I think you are both wonderful. I love reading your posts and see how well you are doing. It must be lovely to have someone to run with who just 'gets you' and understands where you are at that day. Take care and I'm glad your poor feet are beginning to heal again. Xxx

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate in reply toLUHAN
