Completed first couch to 5k run last night. My knees feel very hot this morning. Is that ok?
👍🌟👏🎈Well done on completing W1:R1. There will be all sorts of aches and pains your first week which is why it’s important to run at snails 🐌 pace... take a rest day in between ( walking on rest days is good) and drinking lots of water. Water is your best friend as it gets rid of the lactic acid build up which causes pain.
Get some Epsom salts and have a good soak then rub in an anti inflammatory gel. Wonderful that you have started!!
Great for getting started. A few aches are to be expected at the beginning as for your knees feeling hot that may suggest inflammation. See how they feel tomorrow if you're ok then run if not take an extra rest day. Remember to go slow and slower again if needed. Hydration is so important also try to drink between 2-3 litres of water per day and not just on run days.
C25k is an amazing plan and really does work you'll get lots of encouragement and support on here good luck 😊😊
Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5... and includes advice on pacing, minimising impact and stretching after every run which will help.
Should this issue persist then consult your GP.
Enjoy your journey.
Well done you, the hardest part is over - you started. Not sure on knees, just don't go too fast too soon. Slow and steady is really good and this plan is fantastic. Gentle stretching after each run is good.
