Just wanted to know would it be wrong to continue running even after I’ve completed the 8 minute run? Felt I could have done more. I’m on week 1. Thanks

🤔 wrong? Well maybe not "wrong" but possibly unwise.

The programme is very carefully put together to get you running for 30 mins straight without injury.

If you try to do more than you should then you increase your chance of injury.

I'm not a person who likes to be told what to do or likes doing as I'm told... but my sports therapist told me in no uncertain terms that it would all be worth it if I did.

She was right.

It might feel easy just now but it's still new for your body and it's going to keep getting tougher.

Follow the programme to a tee. If you want to do a bit more then walk for longer in your warm down. It will all be worth it. I promise 👍🏻😁

There are 8 one minute runs and seven 90 second walks on week 1 of C25K, you should keep ridgidly to the program, yes it would be wrong to do any more runs than necessary, remember also, never run on consecutive days, try to keep to the same 3 days a week.

You'd be better sticking to the plan as doing too much too soon can result in injury. Good luck 😊

I was very tempted to skip a few weeks when I started as I found it very easy, but decided that eight weeks was not too long to wait to get to running comfortably and more importantly, safely, for thirty minutes, so stuck to the plan.

It works. Why risk injury by pushing beyond the programme?

If you want to do more, cross train with non impact exercise.

Take care

Haha it's so tempting isn't it Aruba but you should stick to the plan. It's designed to give you a structured build up in the workload, which if you follow, should ensure you avoid fatigue and injury. Good luck

I hit week 3 and decided that I felt comfortable...I wanted to see how much I could do...I added another couple of runs after the minutes were over....ended up having to have weeks off and learnt a well needed lesson. (I found this forum whilst searching for advice on why i had injured myself...wish i had found it before!) Please take the advice of the much more experienced runners that have posted above. ...they really do know what they are advising. Have fun and keep safe Xxx

Thanks for the advice. I’m new to this and this forum. Do you know how I can search for key words so I don’t bother people with? Im sure this question has been asked before. xx

Welcome. glad you are enjoying your runs. I found that running is just as much a mental as it is physical. whether it is wondering how am I ever gonna do this next run after having a harder run the time before or trying to resist the urge to push too hard to try and improve quicker. There are not short cuts. My greatest worry with running is getting an injury and having it set me back wasting all that hard work and time. As they say slow and steady wins the race. enjoy your journey. The plan works with out a doubt.
