Im alternating between week 3 and week 4 and can definitely jog further now as a total newbie to this I was wondering what sort of trainers I should be wearing to stop me getting shin splints 😁

What trainers are right for me maybe not right for you. Go to your nearest ruining shop and get a gait analysis and they will be able to advise you. Good luck 😊
