W1R1 - Survived.... Just

Lardybumneedstorun profile image

First run done. I found it REALLY hard. I'm glad I've done it and am now resting at home. I even braved the rain.

I found the inner arch of my feet hurt throughout, is this down to my shoes or my technique? I am a little flat footed.

Rest day tomorrow.

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5... and includes advice on pacing, minimising impact, stretching after every run and many other topics.

Good shoes make all the difference.

Enjoy your journey.

Great, you've completed wk1r1. Do you have proper running shoes as it can make a really big difference. Well done you 😊😊

Welcome and great job... don’t worry, that run tried to kill a lot of us 🤣. That’s the hardest run of the plan for sure... read the guide that IannodaTruffe linked in, and get great shoes as soon as you can. Enjoy your journey.

Huge well done 👍 I promise it gets addictive ... 😉 I honestly swore each time they told me to “start running” in the first two weeks but it’s amazing how strong you get in such a short space of time. Happy running days 🏃🏽‍♀️😀

Yep first week was the worst for me. I felt sick, had a headache and for some reason my arms went numb 🥴. Second week I felt I had some control over my body and mind and started to relax into it. Well done on getting out there.

Drink plenty of water regularly, ie every day not just on the day of running and keep those shoulders relaxed. I found that really helped.

The first couple of weeks running is tough. My breathing was all over the place, my legs hurt and everything else. But keep going because things do get better. Have fun and happy running
