Benefits of running

I started Couch to 5k in May 19 as a complete non runner, hated it at school and was worried how a slightly overweight forty something woman would look! My friend kept me going, she'd been running a while longer and had completed a 10k looking amazing... Complete inspiration to me.

A few months on I'm fitter, over half a stone lighter, lost inches and my circulation has improved. Really loving being outdoors in the fresh air and even running in the rain which I hated at first. Think I'll be a winter runner! Just signing up for my third Race at Your Pace medal.

My hardest challenge is not to compare my pace/time to anyone else but aim to improve myself and overall just enjoy which I've done today ✅

The support on here is amazing and our little chat group. I've 'met' some lovely people.

Keep going everyone, you can do this! 🏃

A lovely post and picture, I agree with you as I’m definitely a “winter runner” and love running in the rain...

I’ve got one Race Your Pace medal and sure I will sign up for another soon..Good luck with Septembers challenge what one are you doing

Such a lovely forum isn’t it with crazy runners who enjoy running in the rain, get up far too early to run, always talk about running, show pics of watches and shoes and support each other through thick and thin. 🏃‍♀️

Thank you. Not sure what miles to go for this month, done 25, then 50 so may try the 50 again. Love the forum. Good luck with your next

challenge 🏃

Nice post! And a lovely runny picture. I agree so much about the challenge of running one’s own run and not comparing to others. But the benefits of doing it right are huge, both physically and mentally. Steady improvement when you run your own runs. And so much fun. Well done you. Happy running! 👍🎉👏🏼

The results of physical and mental health are amazing if you have the determination to keep going. The only person to compare yourself to is you not anyone else . Well done you 😊

That’s a fantastic achievement Lynsh and yes just worry about your pace you’re pace will improve over time especially when you do distance running that’s how mine has improved your pace with come naturally as never compare yourself against other runners you’re doing fantastic.

You know I love running in the rain apart from when it’s absolutely throwing it down been soaked to the skin when I was doing C25K 😂

And good luck with your race with your pace and yes we have a great little group don’t we 😉xx

Lynsh, how far you’ve come in your running journey and most of all how you’ve surprised yourself and found new likes and dislikes, it’s like being born again isn’t it.

It’s been a pleasure to share with you over the months and the support in our group has been second to none.

It doesn’t end here though... I know... you know... there is so much more to come! I’m actually looking forward to autumn/winter running too!
