Just a quick update to say, last Saturday, I completed my first Parkrun - and how much I enjoyed it! We were on a long weekend away for the Bank Holiday, so I started off my Parkrunning as a Tourist, at St Mary's Parkrun in Bridport, finishing in 00:33:02, which I was happy with.
Not the easiest course, which is very tight and has one very short but really nasty hill, as well as one out and back on the same narrow path. It bottlenecked on me more than once which meant I had to slow down, some.
They were only having their ninth event, but I have to say how well organised and attended it was. A really good intro for all of us newcomers to the course (there were a vast amount of tourists in attendance) along with the other two there who were also having their first Parkrun, even having a really nice and big course layout diagram.
The welcome received for us Parkrun debutantes was fantastic, as well as the one runner from Johannesburg, SA, as were all the Marshalls and Volunteers throughout.
I'm heading to my local Parkrun this weekend and already can't wait. Easy to see why so many have really gotten into these.
Thanks again for all the help and advice received here. The response to my last post was excellent and left me with plenty of food for thought on how I proceed now post-C25k.
Keep on running!
Scott
