Be kind to yourself day - W3R3 after a walk with my friend!

Wasn’t sure I was going to be able to do this run today. The original plan had been to do it yesterday but was too depressed to get dressed and get out of the house.

But today I had this walk planned and it was enough to get me up and out. I now feel brilliant- thank you to my endorphins 🎉

Since being made redundant in June I have tried to make Friday my ‘be kind to myself’ day.

So now I am off to buy some wool to finish my crochet bear for charity, then get a train to see my friend who is going through a divorce. We are having a kindness day together.

Glad you are feeling good today. You should post a picture of your bear when completed. Enjoy your day with your friend, hope you cheer each other up.

I have found running has helped me so much with my mental health. Well, just exercise in general! I was diagnosed with severe depression in 2012 and it’s been up and down ever since. There are definitely days where I try to run and stop after 5 minutes because I just know my headspace isn’t right, but on the days that I complete it, those endorphins feel great! Keep going :)

It weird that I think I have struggled with my mental health most of my adult life but I only just realised it 🤪

I would just go to bed until I felt I could get up again and face the world.

Having children forced me to get out of bed quicker but recently having been made redundant and my children being adults it has become a bit harder.

Agree exercise really helps, when it can be done.

Well done GL, glad you managed to get out and do it despite everything going on and it appears you have accidentally found a good method.

I would recommend treating each run as a walk initially, by getting into running clothes, going to your usual run location and starting walking. Once you start you may feel like running, but if not at least you’ve had the walk and some fresh air.

Having said that, if you need to stay in bed or in the house just do it. There will always be another day for a run, you can repeat as many runs as you want and you can complete the 27 runs whenever you feel like it, it doesn’t have to be strictly within 9 weeks (as long as you take the rest days and try not to miss more than 2 weeks!).

Enjoy the kindness day with your friend, lovely that you are supporting each other in life’s ups and downs. And do post the pic of the bear too!
