Iโve finished week 8 so chuffed with myself. I honest would not of got this far without this fantastic forum and the encouragement/positivity on here.
My question is I have completed w8 BUT I only ran 3.73km.. donโt get me wrong Iโm super excited to have achieved this, but w9 is only another 2 minutes of running. I am no way going to be running 5k by the end of this week..what can I do to increase my speed and will I still graduate if I havenโt got to 5k ??? Would really appreciate your Advise please ๐

Forget about 5K. This C25K plan is all about getting you running for 30 minutes without stopping. I was running for 2 years before I could run 5K in 30 minutes. It is amazing to be able to run for 5K no matter how long it takes you. Donโt worry yet about distance.
Thank you for your reply. That has made me feel better and taken the pressure off ๐ฐ I think it will probably be about the same time for me to reach the 5k lol... but I will plod on slowly ๐
Don't worry about 5k . Although the plan says c25k as long as you're completing each run that's all thats asked of you. So when you finish w9 3x 30 minute runs you've graduated . Good luck ๐
Got it!! Thank you. I have read some bits of post... but.. I'm dyslexic lol so I start to read and then it gets complicated because I get in a muddle with words and to much writing lol.. I'm ok on short paragraphs ๐ Them long post are just to much for me!!
Thank you agIn for the positivity ๐๐๐โโ๏ธ
Ok, I understand, yes, there's a lot to read, I have to keep going over stuff to absorb it properly, ask away if you need to know anything else, no matter how silly it may seem.
Graduations only around the corner, you're doing great!๐
I definitely won't reach 5km by the end of W9. I've signed up for a 5km run at the end of September and I hope I'll be able to do the distance but I doubt I'll do it in 30mins. Well done us; we're running for 30 minutes. That's a massive achievement. x
Thank you for the reply. This forum just makes you feel so reassured,๐ Good luck to you that not long! Let us know how you get on..happy running we will get there ๐๐๐๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ๐
I graduated in May I think, having started c25k in Feb!!!! I carried on doing the runs gradually trying to increase the distance. I have now done 5 parkrun with a PB of 37:33. If I can get to 30 mins Iโll be over the moon. Just relax and revel in what youโve already achieved. X
Yes, youโre worrying too much about distance, and also then pace... neither of these two stats will change your life, 30 minutes will. I believe thatโs why the C25K app doesnโt log these things.
Slower running will raise your aerobic fitness & develop your leg muscles sooner and better than fast running.
Before you started this plan, how happy would you have been to be able to run for 30 minutes? When you were inactive what time would you see yourself running 5k in? If your first 5k run takes you 90 minutes (it wonโt at your pace) will it be any less distance? Would it be less of an achievement?
Youโre here to get to 30 minute long cardio workouts, which with the brisk walking youโve already achieved. All that matters now is upping that to 30 minutes of running. These are the things that will change your life and extend your life expectancy... pace and distance are things you can work on in a couple of months from now, if youโre so inclined.
Yes I am a worrier ๐คฃ You are totally spot on! 8 weeks ago I'd never of thought I would survive week one.. it was so hard! But here we are slowly does it for me..And I will get there in time๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ๐
Ahh thank you . I do feel great and looking back I have come a long way in 8 weeks. It has been a great journey and you have made me reflect on that!! Thank you for the positivity. Hope your doing ok too x
Sorry to hear about your dad.. wishing him a speedy recovery. I am back and forth to London too with my dad he has Parkinsonโs. Itโs difficult sometimes to stick to schedule, It is funny how you do miss it when you canโt do it ๐คฃ
Do you remember the first time you were told to run for a full 5 minutes? I can remember being so scared. I felt exactly the same as you. Been graduated 2 weeks now and Iโm still not there distance wise. But have faith it will come and enjoy your last week ๐
Like everyone says - really donโt worry. It took me one year before I did 5k in 30 mins and itโs still not a regular thing for me. Enjoy your running and enjoy your achievements!
