Well I did it!

I’ve not run for over 5 years due to Oa in my knee, 5 surgeries later and I’ve been told by 2 Consultants I can try again. So, hubby got me a treadmill as it’s safer at home in case of pain and I’ve completed run 1 week 1! Here’s to the next one!!

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5... and includes advice on pacing, minimising impact and stretching after every run, which will all help.

Enjoy your journey.

Welcome back to running and to the forum. Good to read that your consultants are with the modern medical thinking and not telling people with knee issues that they can’t run, some are still living in the 80s. Great job getting started, enjoy your journey.

It’s taken 5 years to get that advice, I used to love running on my treadmill for an hour plus! Hope to find that “high” again but being realistic and aiming for 20 mins! Being careful and going to take it slow as don’t want more surgery!

I know what you mean. I was told not to run for 30 years. Slow and steady running is the best way to do this, and hopefully that knee will strengthen somewhat.

Well done 👍
