Started week 1 again after getting to W3r3 a wee while ago but then I had an injury (who knew you could get injured running 3 mins 🤪) , then it was too warm and just lack of motivation in general. So I’m back here as everyone is full of positivity which I’m needing to rub onto me because I’ve struggled just doing week 1 again as I have it in my head that I’m not a runner but at the same time I’m not a quitter & really want to complete the programme.
I’m Back!!!: Started week 1 again after getting... - Couch to 5K
I’m Back!!!
Welcome back.
You’re not a runner... yet. You’re not a quitter, so you will be a runner, that’s the biggest attribute anyone can bring here.
Good to hear you’ve recovered from a sporting injury... I think that sounds so much better than plain old injury, it means we earned it... stupid I know, but it always makes me feel better about not being able to run.
What you need to do now is put that non-quitter voice in your head to counter that voice that says you’re not a runner... prove it wrong. Every time that negative voice speaks, tell it that it’s wrong... you’re going to be a runner. What’s more, you’re going to have the best coach in the world... one that is always with you... you. Tell yourself you can do this... because you can.
Enjoy that next run... and don’t forget to tell us all about it.
Welcome back.
Do make sure you check out the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5... which has advice on pacing, minimising impact and stretching after every run, which can help avoid injury.
Enjoy your journey.
You can do it suzysim just drink lots of water and go slow. You are a runner you have started so you have to keep telling yourself I can do this and you will. Loads of positive vibes being sent your way x
Well done for coming back! I was a serial non finisher (not at running - don’t be silly, I’d never do THAT!) so when I started I told everyone. That way I’d be accountable. No one laughed and everyone was encouraging - not to say amazed 😆😆. I finished and still go out albeit not as often as I might like. Keep going - I did it at 63 and so can you!! Just back from parkrun.
Once you’re finished - and you will! - you should try parkrun. No pressure other than to do your best and you’re grouped by age. I’m in 60-64 and this week was 3rd in my age group. Sounds good but there are very few of us and I’ve even topped the group 🤣! Sounds better than 136 out of 160!! At the end of the year I’ll go into the next group so even fewer to bear perhaps! Keep going.
Oh that’s such a shame. I’ve one on my doorstep. It’s worth it just now and again though. I’ll follow you to watch your progress. Remember I had never run before - even at school and I left there in 1972!!
