W5D1 - Mildly Ouchie

I'd been afraid of this one, it feels like week 5 is when it all gets real. So did day one this morning, and it was only a mild ouchie. I'm certainly noticing an improvement in my fitness in that my recovery during and after the run is quicker, and that my mood is getting a boost too.

I have to say I'm not exactly relishing the thought of the long run at the end of this week, but I feel that if I persevere, and keep in mind why I'm doing this then I'll get through. Wish me luck for the weekend though, that's when it's happening!

Good luck! You can do it. Yoi’ve Done all the hardest bits, and you’ll be over half way there soon.

Embrace the challenge! The run at the end of week 5 is one of the best - a real sense of achievement. Keep it slow and steady, trust the plan and remember that every run and every week prepares you for the next!

I've been really happy with how the plan keeps the challenge level high (for me) but doable.

Great stuff. Most people fear that run 3, but it’s not much different to the rest of the week physically... it’s a mental challenge. Keep the pace down and you’ll be fine.

AndrewMo, I’m with you on this one. I did W5R1 yesterday and have R2 tomorrow. I’m a little apprehensive and a lot apprehensive about R3 on Friday!!! 😱

Well the advice seems to be take it steady! I get the feeling that if we can do W5R3 then that's us well on the way to completing. However, I'm not into counting my chickens before they hatch, and don't want to jinx you, or me!

When I did W5R2 I noticed that I didn't actually need the 5 mins in the middle of the two 8s to feel ready to start again. After 2 mins walking I was like "when can I start running again? This is boring". I think this psychologically prepares you for R3 because your body is telling you "I can do this". Still bricked it a bit before R3, but at the end of it felt fantastic!

In R2 the workout lasts 8+5+8 = 21 mins, in R3 only 20 mins. Seriously you're ready for this - it's just a question of believing you are.

Yep, I've done R2 this morning, and it felt pretty good. The eight minutes didn't exactly fly by, but I wasn't as knackered as I thought I would be. Looking forward to R3, but with some trepidation. I'll do it, but it might not be pretty!
