Salutary lesson today. ParkRun on Saturday, lovely jubbly. Day off today so thought would go out for a run, see where my legs took me, see how far I could run. Ha! Managed mile and a half and shins were screaming so had to stop. Initially gutted. Then realised how far I’ve come in a reasonably short time. Still lugging tons of flab around with me. And I’ve read on here that graduates are at most risk early doors as they think they’re on a mission.
So I walked the rest. Took a different route....got lost... admired nature, views, cute dogs and felt very chilled. And I’ll be back in the game for a short one Weds.
That is all. 😂 Have a good one lovely peeps. Any advice gratefully received xx

I need to think like this. I've got a little obsessed by how far / how fast I run. I started to get fitter and feel psychologically better. Both those things have happened, so I need to remember how far I've come and that this is supposed to be fun.
Absolutely. At the end of C25K I was able to run just over 3 k in 30 mins. Then , and I can’t remember how it happened, started doing 5k but slow at around 53 mins. So almost doubled my time running which isn’t exactly following the 10% rule. I need to calm the frick down!!!
Thank you. I think I’m so overwhelmed with what I’ve achieved that I’ve a bit Tigger like!! I really want this to be my life now and so I have to look after it.
Sensible move, and you clearly enjoyed it too. I think we're all a bit over excited by out new found sportiness, even when the body's screaming for a rest 🤪
I can vouch for the getting lost technique But also, it's more important than ever to use your recovery days to stretch out those running muscles, if you didn't straight after your run. You did exactly the right thing though, very tempting to push ourselves on when our bodies need a rest.
Thx. I always stretch out. But at home now my legs feel like lead. I think rest days should involve some walking, although I walk a lot in my job getting out in the fresh air is helpful I think. Gawd, never thought I’d be so stressed about not being able to run!!!!
