Well wk2 run2 just completed and omg I’m dead, really really struggled the last but one 90 second run, I almost stopped... but I didn’t, I battled on and the only thing I can think of I was running into a head wind, but I listened to what you guys have said and I just slowed it down gritted my teeth and managed it, Iv attached a picture which I thought was app as I was listening to Chris rea the road to hell 😩😩😩

Well done on pushing through........but if you are struggling, just slow down some more.

You can make this hard or.............much less hard.

Ok thank you I’ll try that, I think I’m trying to go too fast, I’m pushing myself too hard, but once I slowed down I managed it.

🤣 Chris Rea is from my town actually 🤣

Headwinds are brutal! Hard to avoid them today! Well done - the key is to slow down. You should be proud that you still went out!

Nice run for you today Shelly, despite the wind, The road to Hell, Hell is a township in Michigan in the USA. and Chris Rea wrote the song when he was travelling on that road. Onwards and upwards to run 3 of week 2, but not on that road.

The road goes on and bloody on and on... to misquote Tolkien.

My Keswick Parkrun was like that today. 5 laps of a very flat tarmac path. Next week I'm going to do Whinlatter, if just for the improved scenery.

Sympathy. But it does get better, honest!

Great well done for carrying on. From my experience running against the wind was hard going.

Well done you completed it !!

I’ve got to get that one to get done this evening looking for a dry spot in the weather to be able to go out.

I’ve also got a collie dog not sure I take her with me though she just gets under my feet.

I’ll let you know how I get on later! X

Looks more like a road in Yorkshire!! 😃 Very well done keeping going.

It was an absolute revelation to me when someone explained that you can run as slow as walking pace, only doing the running movement. Speed can come later if you want it to, for now polish your inner 🐌🐌🐌😀!

I think it’s natural to go from the brisk walk to a run that’s faster and that can be a big mistake. This is really about learning to run for 30 minutes. Don’t worry about your speed or distance at this point. You’re not only learning to run but building muscle, new bone cells, new micro capillaries to get that oxygen pumping to those new muscles! If speed is important to you that can be worked on once you’ve built the framework for that. I run using the Japanese slow jogging technique - the professor who developed it did it for elite athletes and marathon runners as it’s brilliant for building strength and stamina. And as novice runners we’re very prone to injuries - so pushing too far too fast will land you back on the couch! This really works - I’ve lost over 5 inches from my waist running this way. You use as many calories running 5k slowly as you do running fast - it’s the distance not the speed that counts!
